Redington Shores is a 220-acre barrier island town in Pinellas County with 1.19 miles of Gulf Boulevard between Indian Shores to the north and North Redington Beach to the south, reaching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Intracoastal Waterway. It sits roughly midway between Clearwater and St. Pete Beach, about 12 miles by car from downtown Clearwater and about 15 miles from downtown St. Petersburg. The nearest bridge to the mainland is the Park Boulevard Bridge, just north in Indian Shores.
Living in Redington Shores
Redington Shores was incorporated in 1955. The town is divided into four districts, each electing its own commissioner, and has about 6.3 miles of roads. Gulf Boulevard is its main street, and the PSTA Suncoast Beach Trolley stops in town on its run between Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach. The Gulf Beaches Public Library in nearby Madeira Beach is shared by Redington Shores and four other beach towns.
The beach and parks in Redington Shores
- Redington Shores Beach Access, 18200 Gulf Boulevard: Pinellas County's 3.5-acre Gulf park, public since the county bought it in 1973. It has a beach about 400 feet wide, about 170 paid parking spaces, restrooms and beach showers.
- Nourishment: the town was included in Pinellas County's 2025-2026 beach nourishment, with sand placed here in September and October 2025.
- Constitution Park, 18214 Gulf Boulevard: a playground, shuffleboard, a basketball and handball court, a volleyball area, and a pavilion with cooking facilities that residents can rent.
- Nature Park, 17925 Gulf Boulevard (formerly Del Bello Park): a fishing dock on the Intracoastal, a kayak launch, outdoor exercise equipment and benches overlooking the water.
- Tennis court, 18325 Gulf Boulevard: metered lighting, a pickleball area and a small fishing dock.
- Thelma Spitzer Park: a small neighborhood playground.
Along the beach, the town lists parasailing, jet ski rentals and aqua bikes among its water activities.
Getting around Redington Shores
The Park Boulevard Bridge in Indian Shores crosses the Narrows to Seminole. The Tom Stuart Causeway in Madeira Beach, a few miles south, crosses Boca Ciega Bay toward St. Petersburg. John's Pass Village is also a few miles south, in Madeira Beach. The Seaside Seabird Sanctuary is just over the town line in Indian Shores.
Homes in Redington Shores
Condominiums and single-family homes appear in roughly equal numbers. Most condominiums are in waterfront buildings from the 1970s and 1980s, many of them Gulf-front, with some built into the 2000s. Single-family homes date mostly from the 1950s and 1960s, with rebuilds into the 2010s, and about half sit on the water on the Intracoastal side. There are also townhouses from the late 1980s and 2000s.
