SoHo, short for South Howard, is the stretch of South Howard Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and Swann Avenue in Tampa, along with the residential blocks on either side, about 1.5 miles from downtown Tampa. It is the Hyde Park area's main restaurant and nightlife corridor, with Hyde Park Village a few blocks southeast and Bayshore Boulevard less than a mile south down Howard Avenue.
Living in SoHo
The City of Tampa maps SoHo as its own neighborhood, South Howard, running from Kennedy Boulevard south to Swann Avenue, and it is widely treated as part of greater Hyde Park. Howard Avenue takes its name from Howard P. Macfarlane, son of developer Hugh C. Macfarlane. The corridor itself is an entertainment district of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, cafes and boutiques, while the side streets off Howard are residential.
