South of Gandy is the name used for the part of South Tampa below Gandy Boulevard, reaching from Old Tampa Bay to Hillsborough Bay and south to MacDill Air Force Base, about 6 to 9 miles by road from downtown Tampa. It takes in Interbay, the Westshore Marina District and Sun Bay South, Ballast Point, Port Tampa City and Southtown Park. The area mixes older bungalows and ranch homes with new townhomes and new construction, and it has two bayfront city parks with boat ramps and the Gandy Bridge to St. Petersburg.
